4 days before Bike Week '96 and look what was ALREADY happening on Main Street. Main Street, located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Halifax River is the heart of all the Bike Week action in Daytona Beach. This is where all the bikers (400,000 - 600,000 expected) come to join in a massive spectator sport, to see and to be seen.
Boot Hill Saloon is aleady off to a good start. Yesterday they put up their fence to keep bikers corralled in their Beer Garden that will be just to the right of the World Famous Saloon.
The skies are clear and the daytime temperature is in the 80's and in the upper 60's at night.
It's looking like it's going to be a great Butt... I mean Bike Week this year.
Froggy's Saloon is also getting warmed up for the army of bikers now en route to Daytona Beach... looks like Froggy's is putting the finishing touches to their outside bars and chilling down mountains of beer for the impending invasion of beer guzzlers.
Bikes (mostly Harleys) are starting to line up and down both sides of the street. Bikers from far and near are arriving daily... in and out of local shops, strolling the sidewalks looking at each other and the fantastic growing collection of beautifully painted and highly chromed bikes. Every hour brings more Harleys to the streets, filling the air with a thunderous crescendo. An expected 400,000 - 600,000 bikers are on their way here. Saddle up, get your motor running, get out on the highway and come on down.
All the merchants are readying their wares and opening up their doors. I didn't see many itinerant merchants set up yet. I saw one itinerant food merchant set up and cooking (smells good) sausages and other delicious goodies.
