Today, the weather was beautiful so I went to the River Front Park on Beach Street (across the street from Harley-Davidson dealership). At the park, I met and photographed the famous Vinnie and Cody (previously worked at Orange County Choppers) that had a tent setup to reveal their new custom bike building business called VForceCustoms.com. They will have one of their custom bikes there for everyone to see tomorrow. It will be raffeled off for FREE (just enter to win) next year during BikeWeek 2009.
I also snapped photos of Tom Cellie and his band playing on a great looking stage setup in the park. Lots of great food vendors.

Another beautiful Spring-like day. It's a very comfortable 70ish° F. with blue skies and scattered clouds. Plenty of sun. Today I see MANY MORE bikers in town, traffic overnight became very heavy. People at every location in town. International Speedway Blvd. from I-95 to the beachside looks like a parking lot with thousands of bikers heading to the beachside and all other points in Daytona Beach.
I went back to Beach Front Park, across from H-D dealership on Beach Street again today to photograph the “Inaugural Bike" called V Force 1 that Vinnie and Cody of VForcecustoms.com revealed for the first time today at 12 noon. There was a very long line of people waiting patiently to meet Vinnie and Cody, get an autograph and picture with them and to fill out a "FREE" raffle ticket. Vinnie and Cody are fraffleing off the first custom bike that they created in their new business venture together. Their custom bike looks very low and rideable, no radical rake or extened frontend. I love the way the large rear tire is not totally covered with fender. The bike has a short rear fender, with a low cradled solo seat and comfortable straight reach bars (no ape hangers). I filled out a raffle ticket and I'd be very proud to be the new owner of the VForce 1 come BikeWeek 2009. I got my fingers crossed.
I took a break to have a bite to eat at a street vendor across the side street from H-D dealership. I had a little conversation with the guy cooking my burger. He said his name was Joe Pancake, I said, "yeah right." He said, "really, that's the name I was born with." I never met or even heard of someone with a birthname of "pancake". A few minutes later, he came to the table where I was eating my burger and said, "look man I'm not fooling you" and then he rolled up his pant leg to show me a tattoo of a stack of pancakes on his leg. Well, you just never know. It's a big, big world.

It's warm and the sky is blue, not a cloud in the sky. Just another wonderful day in Florida. Excellent riding weather.
Today, I was on Main Street between Froggy's and BootHill Saloon. Main Street was crowded. The bikers are here in massive numbers. Escaping the cold of the north. It seems that about every 10th biker was wearing one of those scull face masks. I've never seen so many. I got some great babe shots of the girls working (selling beer) just off the sidewalk at the property just east of BootHill Saloon. I caught a shot of the olive green Army bike that was made by OCC (Orange County Chopper), complete with handgrenades, 50cal bullets, rifle, walkie talkie, etc. It had tank-like angles. Everyone's eyes were popping out, looking at it. You'll see pictures of it, the babes and plenty other bikers and bikes that I shot on Main Street.

Weather? Just another day in paradise. Today, was another blue sky day in the low 80° range.
The bad news: in the last 4 days of BikeWeek, 5 bikers have been killed. Please ride safely.
Today, I went to Destination Daytona. That property looks like a 150 acre biker city and it is still growing... it's huge. It looks like an amusement park for bikers. It has resturants, plenty of vendors selling every kind of biker item you can think of, a bar that is open till 2AM. The buildings on the property are all 3 stories tall. The 1st floor is retail stores and the 2nd and 3rd floors are condos. Wow, what a concept, you can live there. I strolled inside the 35,000 sq. ft. pavilion sponsored by Coka-Cola... looks like it will have concerts there in the future..

No pictures today...... it rained.
Today the weather was windy and overcast looking like it was going to rain any minute. Then, in the afternoon it did rain.
I didn't get any photos today, but I did drive my car down Main Street. I want to point out that although there is a great many places to go all over Daytona Beach and surrounding areas during BikeWeek, Main Street is still "THE HEART" of BikeWeek. Over on Beach Street, because of the rain and night-time approching, most places were shutting down, but not on Main Street. On Main Street it was "going on" with all vendors open, all bars and food places serving, multiple bands playing and gobs of bikers and bikes all up and down the street even though it had just rained and night-time was at hand. I love Main Street, even with all the problems that it has, it is still the best BikeWeek experience and a must see. Did I mention, "I love Main Street"!

Waaaa whooooo.... The weather is back to beautiful today. Warm with just scattered clouds. Another great day for BikeWeek.
Today, I spent a short time on Beach Street next to the Harley-Davidson dealership. I couldn't spent too long on the street because I had a doctor appointment I had to go to.

Went to Main Street Station and BootHill Saloon area on Main Street. This area is hard to beat. At Main Street Station from 4 - 8PM there was a, very entertaining, 2 piece band called Krackers. There was some great looking girls selling beer out near the sidewalk. One of the girls got arrested for exposure. Oh, oh. I believe that Main Street is so popular that, if you stand on the sidewalk long enough you will see every bike and biker that comes to BikeWeek. I think Main Street, which is only ¼ mile long (river to ocean), is my favorite BikeWeek area. However, my other favorites are Iron Horse Saloon and Broken Spoke Saloon and I think I will like Destination Daytona in the future when it gets more developed.

NO PHOTOS TODAY. A large rain, thunder and lightning storm passed through in the evening, dumping a record 1.7" of rain on Daytona Beach. I stayed home and reported the weather here on this website. I watched the Weather Channel on TV, weather radar on the Internet, looked out my window and posting here.......... Henry Jordan
All time posted is EST (Eastern Standard Time)
crash killed 1 biker today, so far, that's 7 deaths for BikeWeek 2008. During BikeWeek 2007, 8 bikers were killed
11:15PM END OF REPORT... Rain pretty much stopped and so have I for the day.
11:00PM still lightly raining on and off, not much thunder. It's almost over.
9:48PM 66 ° F., constant rain shower with a little thunder and lightning.
8:37PM 66° F., rain and lightning. At least it's warm. Tornado Watch in effect till 2AM
8:20PM a large rain front is just to the north of us. Looks like we could get rained on soon.
5:42PM I just got report from Main Street: with ponchos on, bikers are there hanging out in the bars and on the street between rain showers. Bikers aren't afraid of no stinking rain.
5:40PM it's 65° rain on and off, calm before the big storm approaching. Tornado Warning until 7PM EST.
4:20PM it's 66° F., still raining, very cloudy, thunder. Tornado Watch in effect.
3:50PM an extreamly heavy rain storm front is moving across Florida, SW (Tampa) to NE (Jacksonville), just above all the BikeWeek areas causing intermittant rain. If it doesn't come further south we'll continue to have just intermittant rain. But if it comes further south, we'll have a frog strangler of heavy rain and lightning. Tornado Watch is in effect.
Before 3PM EST, the weather was very cloudy yet nice and warm, actually real nice riding weather. After 3PM it started to rain.

March 8, 2008 I was at Broken Spoke Saloon all evening. During the concert, I was suppose to do LIVE updates to this report, but I couldn't log-on to a broadband connection with my computer. There was a large crowd of leather clad bikers and Bellamy Brother's fans. All the bands put on a great concert. Jay Allen, owner of Broken Spoke Saloon was his usual excellent host and MC. That man knows everything about older Harleys. He's a walking encyclopedia of old Harley and Indian facts, parts, motors and company info. Wink the sound man, operated his powerful 40,000 watt, 12' tall sound system. And the lovely bar girls were dancing for all to enjoy. A fun time was had by all. When the concert ended, the temperature turned pretty darn chilly.
